Located in the very centre of Athens, Greece, Kalinka – Malinka was established by two migrant women coming from Russia. For some time, they wanted to create a small shop that would sell the best piroskies, as the traditional Russian sweet or sour stuffed fried breads are called. Today, the shop does not only serve traditional food from Russia, but offers a whole Russian experience to every customer because of the carefully selected wall decoration, the babouscas (Russian dolls), and of course the folklore uniforms of the staff.

The business was funded by private means, as it was an idea of the owners to turn their passion for cooking into business, giving the city the opportunity to taste some of their traditional cooking. It’s a great example of two migrant women who differentiated common Russian food and managed to make their shop popular for that exact reason.
